The syllabus has been changed due to the government order of including Tamil eligibility paper in all upcoming exams held by TNPSC.  There are lots of aspirants interested in appearing for group 4 exams. Group 4 New Syllabus pattern 2022

Candidates have to attend 200 questions within 3 hours. All the questions will be of objective nature. Each question carries 1.5 marks and a total of 300 marks. There is no negative marking in this exam. So, one can feel free to attend all the questions in the exam. The question paper can be categorized into three areas such as General Tamil, General Studies and Mental ability & Aptitude.

The General Tamil category has 100 questions and the maximum mark is 150. In this category, the candidate must score 40% to be qualified. Only if the candidate reaches this score the rest of the two categories will be evaluated. If the candidate fails to score 40% then the full paper will be rejected. This paper has been changed as eligibility cum scoring paper in the updated version. General Tamil paper is classified into three parts

PART – A   Grammar

PART – B    Literature

PART – C    Tamil Scholars and their Charity

Aspirants can easily prepare for these topics straight away from the Tamil Nadu School Books. One must read the Tamil chapters from standard 6 to 12.  There may be confusion among the aspirants whether to read the new edition books or the old books. One should completely rely on the syllabus first. It is mandatory to check the content for each and every topic in the syllabus from both the edition of school books. TNPSC GROUP 4 New Syllabus 2022 Decode

The General Studies category has 75 questions. The maximum mark is 112. 5. This paper has various subjects and the number of questions asked is not fixed.  There is a total of 10 units in the general studies category.

General Science: This covers Botany, Zoology, Physics and Chemistry. Aspirants can make use of the Tamil Nadu School Text Books in a wise manner to cover all these topics. One can read books from standard 6 to 12 new editions.

Current Events: Aspirants must develop the habit of reading newspapers daily to be aware of the events. When the exam commences, the aspirant must cover at least 6 months of the current events backward from the date of the exam. It is safe to keep track of the news of 1 year. One can follow an efficient magazine or website for this category.

Geography: As said earlier, this part can also be covered from the school books from classes 6 to 12. Aspirants must not read the entire topics given in school books, they should check for the syllabus topics. They should give more importance to Tamilnadu geography.

History and Culture of India and Tamilnadu: This category covers ancient and medieval history. Same 6 to 12 school books are the best source for this unit.

Indian Polity: This unit covers the constitution. Along with the school books, one can refer to the  Lakshmikanth book for the articles mentioned in the constitution. There are more questions on the articles in the previous year questions.

Indian Economy: One can just read the school books of standard 6 to 12. Aspirants should link the economy with current events and read the updated data.

Indian National Movement: This unit is added to the new syllabus. It covers modern history. Aspirants can read from school books of standard 10 and 12.

History, Culture, Heritage And Socio-Political Movements of Tamil Nadu: This is also added in the new syllabus. This unit covers Tamil Nadu history, Archeological discoveries, Thirukural and Tamil Nadu freedom struggle. These topics can be read from the Tamil books of standard 6 to 12 and also from the history portion of 6 to 12 books.

Development Administration in Tamil Nadu: This unit is also new to the aspirants. It is easy to cover the topics from the geography topics from the school books related to Tamil Nadu. The rest of the topics can be read from the policy notes released by the government from certain departments.

Mental Ability & Aptitude: This unit contains 25 questions and it is fixed. The questions will be asked according to the SSLC standard. So the aspirants can prepare from the school books for the listed topics.
