1. World Water Congress 2022:
- Held in Copenhagen/Denmark.
- Theme 2022 – “Water for Smart Liveable Cities”
- During the event, India and Denmark launched the Joint Whitepaper on ‘Urban Wastewater Scenario in India’
- This whitepaper aims to comprehensively capture the present status of wastewater treatment in India.
2. Indo-Pacific Trilateral Development Cooperation Fund:
- India and France have agreed to work towards the establishment of the Indo-Pacific Trilateral Development Cooperation.
- It would facilitate development projects, especially in the framework of the International Solar Alliance.
- It also provides a platform for Indian innovations and startups to demonstrate their relevance to the requirements of other societies.
3. World Alzheimer’s Day:
- Observed on September 21
- Theme 2022 – “Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer’s”
- Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia – a continuous decline in thinking, behavioural and social skills that affect a person’s ability to function independently.
- Alzheimer’s disease was first diagnosed in 1906.
4. International Day of Peace:
- Observed on September 21
- Theme 2022 – “End racism, build Peace”
- It was established by the UNGA in 1981.
5. Kakadu Naval Exercise:
- It is a biennial, multinational Naval Exercise hosted by the Royal Australian Navy.
- INS Satpura and P8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft were sent to Darwin in Australia to participate in the exercise.
- Theme 2022 – “Partnership, Leadership, Friendship”
- Other Exercises with Australia – Malabar, Pitch Black, Ausindex.
6. Langkhun Festival – Assam:
- The Tiwas or the erstwhile Lalungs (an Ethnic Group) celebrate the Langkhun festival in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam by worshipping bamboo for a period of four days between October and December.
7. CMCHIS scheme – 1.19 cr benefited so far:
- CMCHIS – Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme launched on July 23, 2009, as Kalaignar Kaappittu Thittam.
- The Scheme provides quality health care to the eligible person in the empanelled Government and Private Hospitals.
- The Scheme coverage is up to Rs.5,00,000/- per family, per year with ₹15 to ₹20 lakh for organ Transplants.
8. SCALE App:
- SCALE – Skill Certification Assessment for Leather Employees.
- It provides a one-stop solution for the skilling, learning, assessment, & employment needs of the leather industry.
- It has been developed by the Leather Skill Sector Council.
- People from all age groups interested in leather crafts can access online classes on this app.
9. RBI Removes ‘Central Bank of India’ from PCA Framework:
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) removed the Central Bank of India from its Prompt Corrective Action Framework (PCAF) after the lender showed improvement in various financial ratios, including minimum regulatory capital and net non-performing assets (NNPAs).
- The RBI imposed the PCA norms on the bank in June 2017 due to its high net NPA and negative return of assets (RoA).
- The PCA norm is a supervisory tool and is imposed when a bank breaches certain regulatory thresholds on capital to risk-weighted assets ratio (CRAR), net NPAs and return on assets (RoA).
10. Gross Direct Tax Collection Registered Growth of 30% in 2022-23:
- The Central Board of Direct Taxes(CBDT) in a statement said that the net direct tax collections so far this financial year are at ₹700,669 crores, an increase of 23% as compared to ₹568,147 crores till the same period of the corresponding financial year.
- The CBDT statement noted that the direct tax collections continue to grow at a robust pace, a clear indicator of the revival of economic activity post-pandemic, notably as also the result of the stable policies focusing on simplification and streamlining of processes and plugging of tax leakage through effective use of technology.
11. Indian Army activates satellite-based internet service on Siachen Glacier, the world’s highest battlefield:
- Siachen Glacier is very important for the Indian Army as it is a place of concern and a constant target of attacks from both enemy countries, which is China and Pakistan.
- The Indian Army has collaborated with Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL), which is a fully government-owned broadband infrastructure provider company. BBNL helps in providing internet services to the soldiers.
