Theme 2022: “Harness Innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives”
The day is observed to mark the historic discovery by British doctor Ronald Ross in 1897 that malaria is transmitted between humans by female Anopheline mosquitoes.

5. World Senior Citizen Day:

Observed on 21st August
The day is observed with the intent to highlight the contributions of elderly people in human society and honour them.
Theme 2022: “Digital Equity for all Ages”

6. GI Tag to Mithila Makhana of Bihar:

It is a special variety of aquatic fox nuts cultivated in the Mithila region of Bihar and Nepal.

7. Super Vasuki:

Indian Railways Longest Freight Train
Operated by the South East Central Railway zone
The freight train is 3.5km long.

8. National Security Strategies Conference 2022:

Held in New Delhi
Inaugurated by Union Home Minister
Also inaugurated National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) developed by National Crime Records Bureau.
Madhya Pradesh – 1st state in the country to identify a deceased person through NAFIS in April 2022
The Conference has brought a unique mix of top leadership by addressing National Security.

9. Exercise Pitch Black 2022:

Hosted by Royal Australian Air Force
Biennial multinational exercise
An Indian Air Force contingent of over 100 air warriors has arrived in Australia to participate in the exercise.

10. UN Internet Panel:

India’s Electronics and Information Technology Secretary, Alkesh Kumar Sharma has been added to a UN panel of eminent experts on internet governance.
Internet pioneer Vint Cerf and Nobel Prize-winning journalist Maria Reesa were also appointed to the 10-member Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Leadership Panel.
They will serve for a two-year term.

11. Emergency Credit Guarantee Scheme:

Launched in 2020
As a part of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Package
Launched to help businesses in meeting their operational liabilities
100% guarantee is provided to banks against any losses incurred to them due to non-repayment of loans by borrowers.
Now the limit is increased to 5 trillion.

12. Davidar Committee:

It has submitted a report about the implementation of the Smart Cities Mission Projects in Tamil Nadu.

3. To transform 100 cities across India into smart cities
4. In Tamil Nadu, 11 cities have been selected. They are Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Erode, Thanjavur, Tirupur, Vellore, Salem, Madurai and Thoothukudi.
