1. Tamil Nadu to observe Minorities Rights Day annually on December 18:
- Monthly stipend of Rs. 500 will be provided to the girl students of Classes 3 to 5 and Rs.1,000 to girls who are studying Class 6 in rural areas to pursue their studies.

- To commemorate the historic day on which the constitution Act (73rd Amendment) was passed in 1992.
- It came into existence on April 24, 1993.
- Then PM Manmohan Singh declared the first National Panchayati Raj Day on 24 April 2010.
- Rajasthan was the first state that carried the Panchayat Raj System on October 2, 1959, in Nagaur district during the times of late PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
5. Maharashtra is the first state in India to launch a bus service with a totally digital ticketing system.
6. World Malaria Day:
- Observed on April 25
- Theme 2022: “Harness innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives”.
7. International Delegate’s Day:
- Observed on April 25
- This day is commemorated to increase awareness of the function of Member States‘ representatives and delegates at the United Nations.
8. International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace:
- Observed on April 24
- The day acknowledges the use of multilateral decision-making and diplomacy in achieving peaceful resolutions to conflicts among nations.
9. First Latha Mangeshkar Award:
- Received by PM Narendra Modi
- He was awarded for his selfless service to the country and society at the 80th annual Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Awards ceremony held in Mumbai.
- She was an Indian playback singer and occasional music composer.
- She has honorific titles such as the “Queen of Melody”, “Nightingale of India”, and “Voice of the Millennium”.
- She passed away in Mumbai earlier in February 2022.
10. India, European Union to launch Trade and Technology Council:
- This strategic coordination mechanism will allow both partners to tackle challenges at the nexus of trade, trusted technology, and security, and thus deepen cooperation in these fields.
11. World Immunization Week:
- Observed from April 24 to April 30
- By WHO
- Theme: “Long Life for All”
12. India’s First International cruise conference:
- Hosted in Mumbai.
- Organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
13. Dog Breeding centre:
- Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) has decided to set up a native dog breed centre in the Tenkasi district.
- To restore and conserve the breeds.
- Some Native breeds of Tamil Nadu are Rajapalayam, Chippiparai, Kanni, and Kombai.
14. John F Kennedy Award:
- Received by the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for acting to protect democracy.
- He was chosen because of the way he marshalled the spirit, patriotism, and untiring sacrifice of the Ukrainian people in a life or death fight for their country.
15. World Lab Animal Day:
- Observed on April 24.
- Also known as World day for laboratory animals.
- To end the suffering of animals in laboratories around the world and promote their replacement with advanced scientific non-animals techniques.
16. National DNA Day:
- Observed on April 25
- On this day in 1953, James Watson and Francis Crick announced their discovery of DNA.
