MARRIAGE ASSISTANCE SCHEMES OF TAMILNADU
- It’s a flagship programme by Tamilnadu government.
- In 2011, four-gram golds are provided for making Thirumangalyam with cash assistance for marriage expenses.
- Then this four-gram was increased to eight gram on May 23, 2016.
- This is mainly to help poor girls and weaker section of the society.
FIVE DIFFERENT KIND OF MARRIAGE ASSISTANCE SCHEMES
1. MOOVALUR RAMAMIRTHAM – POOR DAUGHTER SCHEME
- Annual Income less than ₹72000
- Age limit: 18 years for Bride, 21 years for Bridegroom.
- Educational Qualification: 10th Standard pass or fail, for Scheduled Tribe – 5th Standard is enough.
- Application Submit: within 40 days before Marriage Date.
2. E.V.R.MANIAMMAIYAR – WIDOW DAUGHTER SCHEME
- Annual Income less than ₹72000
- Age limit: 18 years for Bride, 21 years for Bridegroom.
- No Educational Qualification
- Application Submit: within 40 days before Marriage Date.
3. ANNAI TERESA – ORPHAN GIRLS SCHEME
- No Income limit
- Age limit: 18 years for Bride, 21 years for Bridegroom.
- No Educational Qualification
- Application Submit: within 40 days before Marriage Date.
4. Dr DHARMAMBAL – WIDOW REMARRIAGE SCHEME
- No Income limit
- Age limit: 20 years for Bride, 40 years for Bridegroom.
- No Educational Qualification
- Application Submit: within six months from the remarriage date.
5. Dr MUTHULAKSHMI REDDY – INTERCASTE MARRIGE SCHEME
- Scheme I – SC/ST with other community
- Scheme II – Forward Community with BC/MBC
- No Income limit
- Age limit: 20 years for Bride, 40 years for Bridegroom.
- No Educational Qualification
- Application Submit: within two years from the marriage date.
GOLD AND CASH ASSISTANCE DETAILS
- For Moovalur RAMAMIRTHAM Scheme, E.V.R.Maniammaiyar Scheme, Annai Terasa Scheme beneficiaries will get eight-gram gold and cash assistance of ₹50000 for graduates and diplomatic holders, for non-graduates ₹25000 will be provided.
- For Dr.Dharmambal Ammaiyar Scheme, Dr.Muthulakshmi Reddy Scheme beneficiaries will get eight-gram gold and cash assistance of ₹25000 for non-graduates.
- This ₹25000 is provided as ₹15000 through ECS (Electronic Clearing Service) and ₹10000 in the form of National Saving Certificate.
- For Degree and Diploma holders (graduates) eight-gram gold and cash assistance of ₹50000.
- This ₹50000 is provided as ₹30000 through ECS (Electronic Clearing Service) and ₹20000 in the form of National Saving Certificate.
Under this five marriage assistance schemes,
- 1,20,230 girls were benefitted in the year 2018 & 2019.
- Totally 11,46,819 girls were benefitted since 2011.
- In this year 2019 & 2020, ₹726.32 crore budget allocation was made.
