1. New Chairperson of Law Commission:
- Retired High Court Chief Justice Rituraj Awasthi has been appointed.
- The appointment comes more than two years after the 22nd law commission was notified on February 24, 2020.
About Law Commission:
- Non-Statutory Body.
- 1st Law Commission was established in 1834 by the East India Company under the Charter act of 1833 and was presided over by Macaulay.
2. National Legal Services Day:
- Observed on 9th November
- To celebrate the commencement of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 which came into force on this day in 1995.
- This day was established with a mandate to support and help weaker sections of society including Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, women, disabled persons, and natural calamities victims.
3. Netherlands Turns Top Buyer of Indian Petro-Products:
- The Netherlands has emerged as the top destination for India’s petroleum product exports such as petrol and diesel.
- This change comes in the wake of the Ukraine war, with India continuing to buy discounted crude oil from sanctions-hit Russia.
- This bump in exports has also resulted in the Netherlands becoming the third biggest market for India’s overall exports, thereby replacing China.

5. Nagaland organized Tokhu Emong Bird Count:
- Nagaland is prepared to host the first bird documentation event – ‘Tokhu Emong Bird Count’ (TEBC).
- ‘Tokhu Emong Bird Count’ is an effort to promote and encourage the conservation of birds in their natural habitat.
6. 15th Airgun Asian Championship:
- It will be held at Daegu in South Korea.
- Manu Bhaker, Mehuli Ghosh, Arjun Babuta and Divyansh Singh Panwar are among some prominent names in the 36-strong Indian contingents taking part in the championship.
7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils logo, theme and website of India’s G20 presidency:
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled India’s logo, theme and website for its presidency of the G20, which reflects the country’s message and overarching priorities to the world.
- The earth reflects India’s pro-planet approach to life and from this, it derives the theme of G20 India 2023 – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family, One Future.”
8. International Week of Science and Peace:
- Observed from November 9 to November 14
- This week is an initiative taken by the United Nations (UN), hoping to make people contribute towards the encouragement and promotion of peace across the globe.
9. Mutual Fund Penetration:
- According to data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), Maharashtra, New Delhi, and Goa have the maximum mutual fund penetration in India, due to high-income levels, higher literacy rates and substantial inflows from corporations and high net-worth individuals (HNIs)
- However, this does not imply that all higher-income and developed states have high MF penetration while all poorer states lag behind.
About AMFI:
- It is the association of all the asset management companies registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to manage mutual funds in India.
10. Bailey K. Ashford Medal – Dr Subhash Babu:
- Dr Subhash Babu has been awarded the Bailey K. Ashford Medal 2022 and fellow of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (FASTMH).
- He is the 1st Indian to receive the Bailey K. Ashford Medal and FASTMH awards.
- Bailey K. Ashford Medal is awarded annually to one or more mid-career investigators who have done outstanding work in tropical medicine.
11. Forbes Asia’s Power women 2022 list:
- The 3 Indian featured on the list were,
- Soma Mondal, Chairperson of SAIL;
- Namita Thapar, Executive director, India business of Emcure Pharma;
- Ghazal Alagh, Co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Honasa Consumer Pvt. Ltd (Mamaearth)
