1. NALSA – New Head:
- ‘Justice D Y Chandrachud’ has been appointed the Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA)
- About NALSA:
- Constituted in 1995 under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987
- To fulfil the provisions of Article 39A (Provisions of Equal Justice and Free Legal Aid) of the Indian constitution.
- The CJI serves as the patron-in-chief of NALSA.
2. Undu Uraivida Palli Scheme:
- Also called Residential School
- It was inaugurated in Government Schools in Tamilnadu to provide guidance regarding higher education.
- Implemented on a pilot basis in the districts with most people belonging to economically backward sections.
- Food, lodging, education and training are all provided free of cost.
3. MSME Summit:
- The 13th edition of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Tamil Nadu MSME Summit 2022 was held at Karur.
- The government has said the export guidance centres would be set up in Karur.
- Currently, Tamil Nadu contributes 9.25% of India’s total exports.
4. Teachers Day:
- It marks the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
- Celebrated every year on September 5 in INdia.
- Theme 2022 – “Leading in crisis, reimagining the future.
- The day has been observed since 1962.
- To recognize and celebrate the works of educators including Teachers, Researchers and Professors in India.
- He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1954.
- World Teachers’ Day is observed on 5th October.

5. O.C’s 151st Birth Anniversary:
- Born on 5th September 1872
- Valliappan Olaganathan Chidamparam Pillai
- Born in Ottapidaram, Tirunelveli District
His Works:
- Meyyaram in 1914
- Meyyarivu in 1915
- He published Thirukkural with literary notes of Manakudavar
- He published Tholkappiyam with literary notes of Ilampooranar.

- He established institutions like Yuvanesh Prachar Sabha, Deshabimana Sangam, Dharmasanga Nesavu Salai, National Godown, and Madras Agro-Industrial Society.
- Died on 18 November 1936
6. Puthumai Penn Thittam:
- The Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance scheme, titled “Pudhumai Penn” scheme, was launched in Chennai.
- Launched on September 5, 2022
- Under the scheme, all girls who studied from Classes VI to XII in government schools would be paid ₹1,000 a month till they complete their undergraduate degree, diploma, and ITI courses.
- The amount will be directly deposited into their bank account. Through the scheme, about Six Lakh Girls would be benefited Every Year.
- Previously, the government announced that it would transform the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Memorial Marriage Assistance Scheme as the “Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme” after recognizing that in Higher Education, the enrolment ratio of girls from Government schools was relatively low.
7. International Day of Charity:
- Observed on September 5
- To commemorate Mother Teresa’s death anniversary.
- On this day, philanthropic and humanitarian efforts of any kind are honoured.
