1. Indian Navy Participates in Maiden Trilateral Exercise with Mozambique and Tanzania:
- The exercise has three main objectives including capability development to address common threats through training and sharing of best practices, Enhancing interoperability, and strengthening maritime cooperation.
2. World Cities Day:
- Observed on 31st October.
- Theme 2022 – “Act Local to Go Global”
3. National Unity Day 2022:
- Observed on 31st October.
- It is also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas
- To commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first Home minister, Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
- The day has been celebrated since 2014.
4. UNESCO – Mawmluh Cave in Meghalaya’s first Indian Geoheritage Site:
- Mawmluh Cave – is located in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.
- The cave is known for its stalagmite formations.
- Another prime feature of the cave is the pool inside the cave which is formed from five different rivers that pass through the cave.
5. World Thrift Day:
- Observed on 31st October.
- In India, it is observed on 30th October.
- It is also often called World Savings Day.
- Theme 2022 – “Saving prepares you for the future” which focuses on the importance of savings.
6. Saras Food Festival 2022:
- It is celebrated to take steps to establish Saras stalls by women SHGs in all State capitals, major cities and metros, airports and railway stations for widening the reach of marketing.
7. Global Tuberculosis Report 2022:
- Released by the World Health Organization (WHO)
- The report discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the diagnosis, treatment and burden of disease for TB all over the world.
- The report said that about 4,50,000 cases involved people infected with drug-resistant TB in 2021, 3% more than in 2020.
- The number of people provided with treatment for RR-TB (rifampicin-resistant TB) and multi-drug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) has also declined between 2019 and 2020.
8. SAIL signed an agreement with the Airports Authority of India to facilitate commercial operations from Rourkela, Odisha:
- The Ministry of Civil Aviation has provided financial support for the up-gradation of this airport.
- The government of Odisha will provide security, fire, and ambulance services.
- The commencement of air services is also important in view of the forthcoming Hockey World Cup, held at Rourkela in January 2023.

10. ISRO IPRC Successfully Tests Engine for Gaganyaan at Mahendragiri:
- Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Propulsion Research Complex (IPRC) successfully conducted the ‘Pressure Chamber Test’ of the cryogenic engine (C20 E11 MK III) at Mahendragiri in Tirunelveli district.
- The pressure chamber test was conducted for about 30 seconds to check the efficacy of the engine for use in Gaganyaan, which is designed for India’s human spaceflight programme.
- The C20 E11 MK III engine is assigned for the LVM3-M3 mission identified for launching the next 36 OneWeb India-1 satellites of the OneWeb, the London-based satellite communications company.
