1. Antyodaya Diwas:
- Observed on 25th September.
- It marks the birth anniversary of Indian leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
- He was one of the most prominent personalities in the history of Indian politics.
- This year, the Antyodaya Diwas marks the 105th birth anniversary of Upadhyaya.
- He was the co-founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) and a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) thinker.
2. Quad Countries sign HADR:
- Foreign Ministers of the Quad group of countries – India, the U.S., Australia, and Japan – met on the fringes of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to sign a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) partnership into effect.
- The QUAD countries also pledged to assist each other in the face of malicious cyber activity, including ransomware, against critical infrastructure.
- About QUAD:
- The Quad or Quadrilateral Security Dialogue comprising India, the US, Japan, and Australia was set up in 2017 to counter China’s aggressive behaviour in the Indo-Pacific region.
- Quad Plus additional members – New Zealand, South Korea, and Vietnam.
3. ‘Abode of Unicorns’ Memorial:
- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled a memorial to the greater one-horned rhino and the forest guards in the 1,300 sq. km tiger reserve Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. ▪ The memorial named ‘Abode of the Unicorns’, is at Mihimukh, the main entrance to the Kaziranga park in Kohora.
About Kaziranga National Park:
- UNESCO World Heritage Site (1985), Tiger Reserve (2006) and Important Bird Area by BirdLife International.
- IUCN Status: Vulnerable.
4. Green Tamil Nadu Mission:
- Launched at Vandalur.
- It is in line with the Government’s policy to strike a balance between nature and development.
- The Mission aims to augment the national efforts in creating the additional carbon sink of 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes in its forest and tree cover by the year 2030 as a part of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) commitments under the Paris Agreement.
- Japan Bank for International Cooperation had sanctioned ₹920.58 crores and the amount would be utilised for environmental conservation and the green mission.
- Similarly, NABARD had released ₹481.14 crores and the government would utilise the amount to improve the forest areas.
5. World Pharmacists Day:
- Observed on 25th September.
- Theme 2022 – “Pharmacy United in action for a healthier world”
- It aims to promote unity and highlight the sound effects of pharmacy on health.
