1. India’s 1st space observatory to come up in Uttarakhand:
- It will be set up in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand by Digantara, a space sector start-up.
- It will track objects as small as 10 cm orbiting the earth.
- The space situational awareness observatory will help India track any activity in space including that of space debris and military satellites hovering over the region.
2. India’s first Education Township:
- The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to build an education township in the state.
- It will be developed on the idea of ‘Single Entry, Multiple Exit’.
- It will provide high-quality education to the youth and equip them with a variety of professional skills in a single place.
3. 23rd Central Zonal Council Meeting held in Bhopal:
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over the 23rd Central Zonal Council Meeting in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
- He also laid the foundation stone for the Bhopal campus of the National Forensic Sciences University.
4. Gold Medal:
- 17-year-old wrestler, Antim Panghal
- Became the first Indian woman wrestler to win the Gold medal at the U-20 World Wrestling Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria.
5. Greece exits EU’s ‘enhanced surveillance’ framework:
- Greece’s economic performance & policies have been closely monitored under the ‘enhanced surveillance’ framework since 2018.
- The surveillance framework was intended to ensure the continued adoption of measures to support sustainable economic growth.
6. Chennai Celebrates its 383rd birthday:
- It was on August 22 in 1639 that British administrator Francis Day along with his superior Andrew Cogan struck a deal with the Vijayanagar empire to acquire a stretch of no man’s land, which went on to become Madras.
- Madras was officially changed to Chennai on July 17, 1996.
7. India’s first Hydrogen fuel Cell bus:
- Indigenously developed
- Unveiled in Pune
- Jointly developed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and private firm KPIT limited.
- The hydrogen fuel cell uses hydrogen and air to generate electricity, producing only heat and water as end products in the process.
- The bus uses Green Hydrogen as fuel which is an environmentally- friendly fuel.
- Green hydrogen is defined as hydrogen produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using Renewable Electricity.
8. Digitisation of TN Assembly’s Centenary Proceedings:
- All legislative assembly proceedings and records are being digitized.
- Implemented under the e–Vidhan Scheme.
- Digitization of all records starting from establishing the Tamil Nadu Legislative Council in 1921 to the present is in progress.
- The complete digitization of the proceedings of the Assembly is of great benefit to the younger Community, Political Science Degree Students, journalists etc.
About NEVA (National e-Vidhan Application)

- It is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme launched by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) under the Digital India Programme.
- It aims to bring all the country’s legislatures together, in one platform thereby creating a massive data depository without having the complexity of multiple applications.
- Nagaland became India’s first State Assembly to implement the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) programme to become paperless.
- The funding of NeVA is on the pattern of Centrally Sponsored Scheme i.e. 60:40; and 90:10 for North East & hilly States and 100% for UTs.
9. 11th National Seed Congress:
- Inaugurated at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University,
- Eminent seed production experts of the country are participating in this three-day conference.
- In this event, the new experiments in the field of improved seed production in the country, keeping in view the future requirements and a policy will be framed on the strategy of improved seed production, especially of oilseeds and pulses.
