1. Statue of Prosperity:
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 108 feet tall bronze statue of Sri Nadaprabhu Kempegowda in Bengaluru. The ‘Statue of Prosperity’ is made to commemorate the contribution of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda who is the founder of Bengaluru.
- PM Modi also flagged off the Chennai-Mysore Vande Bharat Express at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) railway station.
2. Amur Falcon Festival – Manipur:
- The Amur Falcon Festival is to spread awareness about the protection and conservation of the Amur Falcon.
- Amur Falcon is the world’s longest-flying migratory bird.
3. ‘Prasthan’:
- Offshore Security Exercise.
- Conducted by the Indian Navy.
- Prasthan is conducted twice a year under the aegis of Headquarters, Western Naval Command.
- The exercise aims to integrate the efforts of all maritime stakeholders involved in offshore defence.
4. India to Build its First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Catamaran Vessel:
- Cochin Shipyard signed an MoU with the Inland Waterways Authority of India to build the country’s first hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel for Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
- It will be deployed at Varanasi after the test and trials are done in Kochi.
5. World Diabetes Day:
- Observed on 14th November
- On this day, the enormous achievement of insulin discovery by two outstanding scientists, Sir Frederick Banting and Charles Best, is celebrated.
- The theme of World Diabetes Day between the years 2021 and 2023 is a really important topic “Access to Diabetes Care.”
6. SKOCH Award:
- West Bengal has bagged the prestigious SKOCH award in the women and child development category for its popular ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ scheme.
- The scheme aims to provide financial support to a woman head of a family aged between 25-60 years.
- The SKOCH award is awarded for several reasons, including strong governance, inclusive growth, excellence in technology and applications, change management, corporate leadership, empowerment, and a few others.
7. e-KUMBH Portal:
- e-KUMBH – Knowledge Unleashed in Multiple Bharatiya Languages
- The portal contains engineering courses and books would be available in 12 scheduled Indian languages.
8. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar awarded the Gandhi Peace Pilgrim award:
- Indian spiritual leader and the founder of Art of Living, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was presented with the Gandhi Peace Pilgrimage award in recognition of his tireless efforts to spread the messages of peace and non-violence as espoused by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
- The award was presented to him for his outstanding service and contribution to humanity to bring the change we want to see in the world.
